Sarah Moore, B.Ed.
I am a passionate advocate for student voice and choice in the classroom. I believe that when humans are given the opportunity to make choices and develop agency over their lives, they will find ways to express themselves creatively, deeply, and with great individual thought and intention. My personal experience has always supported that with the power to make my own choices I have been more responsible, strongly motivated, and driven to perfection and mastery of the skills I am working towards.

I believe in the power of connected educators, and have participated in #BCEdChat since August of 2013. This has given me access to classrooms, pedagogies, and professionals all over BC, and led me to reach out to Tristan Powell (UVIC) and Cassandra Whelan (UBC) to form #BCStuTeach- a weekly chat for student teachers in BC. We moderate the chat, which means we provide topics and ask specific questions, and mostly, learn to get out of the way and let the participants develop connections and ask their own questions. We have grown to incorporate pre-service teachers from UNBC, SFU, and TRU. I am also proud to say that by connecting the best practices of each institution we have been able to incorporate their strengths into our program at VIU.
